Mission Statement
The 5th Independent Company of Ohio Sharpshooters /
3rd Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters
Is a group of dedicated American Civil War re-enactors who portray both Union and
Confederate soldiers from 1861 -1865. Our goal is to educate the public of life as a
Civil war soldier and represent and honor not just Civil War but all soldiers who fought,
bled and died for the freedoms we enjoy today. We do our best to research the units we
portray and be as accurate as possible to their history. Over the course of a season we
participate in battle re-enactments, dedications, school programs, parades and
cemetery ceremonies. We also welcome men, women and children civilian re-enactors
as well. We are a family oriented group and welcome all who have a love of history and
pride for the American veterans and active service men and women who fought and still
fight for our freedom.
As a group we vote on events for the year and vote if we are to portray Union or
Confederate soldiers for the event. We realize that some members may be loyal to the
North or the South just as they were during the war. If this be the case and we are at an
event that was voted on as a certain portrayal and a member wants to go the other way
that is not a problem. We have friends in both armies and will be glad to set you up with
a unit to fight with for that event. We are all here to represent the soldiers who came
before us and have fun while doing it.

Portrayal rules: Re-enactments and living history events will be voted on as to Union or
Confederate portrayal after all events for the year have been decided.
Note: All parades and cemetery ceremonies will be done as Union soldiers only.
Confederate portrayal is for battle re-enactments only.
